  On Monday, April 9, 2018 Ed Oyler was selected by Todd County School Board of Education to serve as the new Superintendent of Todd County Schools.
Prior to accepting the Superintendent role at Todd County School District, Mr. Oyler was Assistant Superintendent and Director of District Wide Services of Todd County Schools. Prior experience included a nine year tenure as assistant principal at Todd County Central High School. While serving as assistant principal, Oyler was mobilized and deployed with the Kentucky Army National Guard as an Infantry Company Commander with 1/149th In BN in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. As commander, his role consisted of securing and stabilizing an area of operation that included five villages with a population of well over 6,000 local nationals. Before beginning work at Todd County, Oyler was a special education teacher at Warren County, Simpson County and Bowling Green Independent Schools. While at Bowling Green Independent Schools, Oyler was Head Football Coach for Bowling Green Junior High, building a powerhouse football program that is still successful today.

Oyler received his bachelor’s degree in Learning and Behavior Disorders, and his master’s degree in Education Leadership, School Principal and a Rank I: Supervisor of Instruction from Western Kentucky University. Oyler’s military experiences range from enlistment with Kentucky Army National Guard in 1982, Officer Candidate Schools, and deployment from 2006-2007 as an Infantry Company Commander, 1/149th In BN, C Company to Baghdad, Iraq.

His professional affiliations include work and completion of the National Institute of School Leadership (NISL) coursework, focused on strengthening and transforming leadership and learning within schools.

Mr. Oyler acknowledged the complex issues faced by the District, stating where there are great challenges, there are even greater opportunities. With a renewed focus on student achievement and strengthened communication with those working and living in the district, Oyler plans to implement a leadership team to collaborate with parents, regional businesses, local law enforcement, higher education institutions, civic organizations, health care services, and all levels of government to spur continued gains in student achievement and build a strategic plan for the district. Key goals for Mr. Oyler are to continue progress for the district that will help all students achieve academically and socially, setting high expectations for school leadership and administrative teams, and working to support our teachers and address their needs.

Oyler stated, “I would like to thank the Superintendent Search Committee and the Todd County Board of Education members for their efforts, work and decision concerning my selection as the next contracted superintendent of the Todd County School District. I feel privileged and honored to be tasked with leading the change in Todd County Schools.  I truly believe if we work together to achieve common goals we can achieve great things for our students of Todd County.”
